Over 10,000 Killed By Boko Haram - NSA
With the incessant attacks carried out by the dreaded Boko
Haram sect, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki has said
the Insurgents have killed over 10,000 people.
According to the Nation, Sambo Dasuki who made this disclosure on
Tuesday in a paper he presented at a session with the Economic and
Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations in New York also said that
hundreds of people have been kidnapped by the sect.
While commending the effort of the Military in fighting the terrorists to ensure an end is brought to Boko Haram Insurgency, however said the military approach is not the only solution to the crisis.
“It is my belief that any response to terrorism must be long term, holistic and robust enough to address its root causes.

He said the FG has other solution which is part of the long term plan against insurgency.
Dasuki said the FG have plans to to tinker with national school curriculum .
“We have now begun preliminary consultations with the Ministry of Education with regard to potential changes to the national curriculum and will be hosting an Education Summit, bringing together key stakeholders and policy-makers”, he said.
While speaking on the Boko Haram sect stated that the Islamist group, Jama’atul ahlul Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, popularly known as the Boko Haram sect emerged in Borno State, North Eastern Nigeria, in 2000.
He said: “The group was founded by the late Mohammed Ali who moved to Kanamma, a small settlement in Yobe State, close to the border with Niger Republic in 2003 at a base dubbed ‘Afghanistan’.
“Today, Boko Haram, is seeking to impose an extreme violent Salafist Sharia legal system in the North while holding strong abhorrence for Western ideas. Under the leadership of Abubakar Shekau, the profile of the sect continued to assume martyrdom status.
“In the past few years the group has targeted both Muslims and Christians, killing more than 10,000 civilians including women and children. The group has kidnapped hundreds of people, including the more than 200 young girls taken from their school in Chibok as they sat for their final year exams.”

The Islamist group have continued to carry out incessant attacks in the country, especially in the North-Eastern states, while claiming responsibilities for the deaths of countless civilians.
The group which targets all age from the children to the adults have also killed many police, soldiers and other security agencies.
The sect armed with sophisticated weapons went as far as taking over some states such as Gwoza, Michika amongst others but the Nigerian troops are reported to have fought back and taken possession of these affected states.
