Madonna: Pop diva reveals she was raped at 19
Madonna has confirmed she was raped in New York City at the age of 19.
"I was going to a dance class and the door was locked, and I needed money for the pay phone," she explained. "(This guy) gave it to me. He was a very friendly guy. I trusted everybody.”
In a radio interview with Howard Stern on March 11, the pop diva admitted it was a horrible incident which she couldn't talk about for more the three decades.
"I feel like I plugged my finger into an electric socket," Madonna explained her experience in 1977.
She
continued, "First I was in shock, as one would be coming from the
Midwest to Manhattan. I didn't know a soul and I didn't know what my
future was."
The '4 Minutes' hit-maker also
recalled that her apartments were robbed multiple times and she was
"attacked in the street by a bum", yet she never swayed from music.
She
was persistent in making it big, despite the city that never sleeps was
been cruel to her at times. She often thought of hanging up her desire
for fame and seeking a life of normalcy, something she still craves at
times today.
"Every three days a crave it, 'That's it. I'm moving to a cabin and I'm living in a forest and no one's gonna f--k with me,'" she said.
On why she never reported the rape, Madonna stated: "I didn't want to go back. You've already been violated... It's just not worth it. It's too much humiliation."
