The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Ali Olanusi has explained his reason for leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Olanusi announced his defection from the PDP to the APC on Thursday, March 26.
The
deputy governor said, via a statement, that he had left the ruling
party because he realized that the APC offers a platform where he can
find justice, fairness and equity.
The statement reads:
“While
still being in place as the democratically elected Deputy Governor of
Ondo State, I have decided to lead my teeming supporters and
well-wishers in the state into the All Progressive Congress where we can
find justice, fairness, equity and democratic liberty, a party to which
majority of our kith and kins in Yorubaland belong.”
“I
have taken this decision at this critical time, in the best interest of
peace, stability and good governance of our dear state and for the
overall development of the South West and the nation.”
In response, the state government, via Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade expressed surprise at the development but wished Olanusi well in his endeavours.
Olanusi and Governor Olusegun Mimiko defected from Labour Party (LP) to the PDP in October 2014.
