The Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, has held
its 32nd matriculation ceremony for the 2014/2015 session, where it
matriculated 12,000 students. The Rector of the institution, Dr. Philipa
Idogho, during her speech, explained that the matriculants were among
“thousands” who participated in the post-UTME screening.
She
said the institution had a responsibility to train the students in both
character and learning, in line with vision of the school. She
reiterated that the institution had put in place efficient measures to
keep social vices like improper dressing, cultism and examination
malpractice curbed.
The rector added:
”I
urge you to take full advantage of this privilege of admission by
working studiously to attain your goals and ambition in this
institution. The management of the polytechnic frowns at membership of
cult groups. The polytechnic is determined to make the learning
environment conducive for you, so that you can optimise your time of
learning.”
The Registrar, Dr.
Margaret Ashikpelokha, who administered the oath of matriculation, urged
the students to subscribe to rules and regulation guiding the
institution, as members of the academic community.
”This
oath entails that you pay due respect to the rector and officers of the
polytechnic and that you will be faithful and observe the rules and
regulation guiding the polytechnic,” she said.
