'Character and not a privileged background determines success' - Eku Edewor
For Eku Edewor, success is beyond having an influential last name. It's
hard work, character and a great deal of passion for what you do.
It's great to come from a background of wealth
and privilege, but at the end of the day, it doesn't necessarily
guarantee success.
This was the sentiment of Studio 53 Extra host, Eku Edewor when she was asked if her influential last name paved any way for her. Eku, who was a guest at Pulse acknowledged that while she came from an influential background, character and hard work was what got her to where she is today.
"I
get that when you get into the competitive market you have to use
everything to your advantage. I'm happy that I had parents that wanted
me to go to the best educational institutions but at the end of the day,
I worked very hard. I got straight A's and got a second class upper
degree. So I think that's the element people always forget. It's not
only privilege that determines your success, it character. You have to
work hard at what you do."
So folks, do you agree
with Eku? Do you think that success has more to do with character and
hard work than coming from a privileged background? Share your thoughts
with us.
