Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie was told not to do music by his mother.
This revelation was made known by Pharuk Jbreal, a Ghanaian artiste, responsible for the song widely accepted song, ‘Pressure’.
Pharuk
had earlier tweeted that the rapper was dissuaded from making music by
his mother, who in her conviction, went to Nana Fynn’s studio. She
served him a warning not to allow her son gain access to the studio.
Pulse Ghana
reached out to Pharuk to throw light on the tweet, and he did,
explaining that his motive for sharing the information was to inspire
people, and encourage them to be tenacious, following Sarkodie’s
example.
“I happen to know Sarkodie before he
became a big star and even have songs with him. He hasn’t changed in
terms of character, he is not into drugs and lives quiet a decent life.”
Pharuk said.
“It is obvious that his mum
is proud of what her son has turned out to be. I have seen her at some
of his events and it says it all. I can understand his mothers concerns
at that time, there are quiet some disturbing stories about musicians
out there and as a mother you can only be vigilant and look out for your
child. Am sure sarkodie will one day get a degree or even go beyond
that, education is not a race.”
