Shakespeare’s Globe announces Lagos, Nigeria as the next leg of its worldwide Hamlet tour.
'Hamlet' comes to Lagos
A year into this extraordinary theatrical ensemble, Hamlet Globe to Globe hits Lagos on March 4th and 5th 2015, with performances scheduled for the Muson Centre and St. Saviours School, Ikoyi.
The Hamlet Globe to Globe tour opened at Shakespeare’s Globe, London, on April 23, 2014 at the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth, and is scheduled to tour every single country on earth over 2 years.
Following rave performances in Wittenberg, Moscow, Kiev, at the United Nations in New York, at the oldest theatre in Central America, the majestic Teatro Nacional de El Salvador and more, Hamlet arrived in Africa in January 2015.
The tour has attracted rave reviews internationally, including from The New York Times which describes it as “a production that prizes efficiency, clarity, accessibility and above all energy.” 
Synopsis: 'Learning of his father’s death, Prince Hamlet comes home to find his uncle married to his mother and installed on the Danish throne. At night, the ghost of the old king demands that Hamlet avenge his ‘foul and most unnatural murder’.
Encompassing political intrigue and sexual obsession, philosophical reflection and violent action, Hamlet is Shakespeares ‘poem unlimited’, a colossus in the story of the English language and the fullest expression of his genius
