There are several cocktails which are incomplete without vodka, but do you know vodka is also a multi-functional domestic material?

Vodka is renowned for its alcoholic potency boasting one of the highest percentages among alcoholic beverages. It's near tastelessness also make its great for mixing with other drinks to create cocktails.
Indeed, the many pros of vodka as an alcoholic beverage stand uncontested, but did you know that asides this, vodka has several other surprising uses ranging from domestic to health?
If have a bottle of vodka lying around the house you may want to consider putting it to some of the following uses:

  1. Polish jewellery: Say goodbye to dull looking jewellery with vodka. Be they sterling silver or gemstones, vodka is great for removing stains on jewellery. Simply soak  jewellery in vodka for about 15 minutes, remove and leave to dry. Or you can dip a cloth in vodka and use it to wipe said jewellery.
  2. House cleaner: From windows to kitchen counter tops and fixtures with chrome, porcelain and glass parts, vodka can be quite the handy home cleaning solution. Simply spritz some on a cloth or directly on the surface and wipe away. Your surface will be all the shinier for it.
  3. Freshen clothes: The great thing about vodka is that it doesn't have such a potent alcoholic smell, instead for clothes it kills odour causing bacteria. So have you been too swamped to do your laundry or send your clothes to the laundry person, simply spritz some all over the clothes (be sure to spray some in a hidden part of the cloth first so that you're sure it's not bad for that particular fabric), and then hang clothes in an airy place. They'll smell fresher once the vodka dries off leaving no trace of alcoholic smell.
  4. Mosquito repellent: Have you been on the receiving end of stinging mosquito bites? Fight back with vodka! Simply spray it on your body, as the vodka kills mosquitoes and insects in general.
  5. Ease toothache: Vodka can be great as a temporary aid for a bad toothache. Take a sip of vodka and swirl around the affected area. This will help numb the pain and also disinfect it.
