Pro-Fayose Thugs Beat Up High Court Judge
Thugs loyal to Ekiti State the Governor-elect Ayodele Fayose
have allegedly beaten up Justice John Adeyeye near the State High
Court over him being rude to the governor.
According to Premium Times, the situation resulted in the break of the Ekiti State Governorship Election petition Tribunal sitting planned to be held today.
The confusion allegedly occurred around 6am when pro-Fayose thugs besieged the court premises, the eye witness said.
Justice Adeyeye was outraged to see scores of thugs rapidly making their way to the court and demanded Fayose to deal with “his supporters” and stay away from the court premises.
In response, Fayose was said to have shouted the judge down. Soon some 20 thugs attacked Adeyeye beating him and tearing his clothes. Other judicial workers present around yelled for help but in no avail.
They immediately. closed the court premises, the sitting was stopped. Hours later the police dispersed the dangerous gathering by firing tear gas canisters.
Justice Adeyeye was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
It would be recalled that September 22 a similar situation took place, when the suspected PDP thugs broke into the court premises and attacked the trial judge to stop the proceedings challenging of Fayose to contest June 21 held governorship election.
Fayose denied his involvement and links with the thugs and accused the opposition party of trying to halt his swearing-in.
Regarding the fresh incident, the Governor-elect could not be reached for comments.
