Members of a local vigilante group have killed 16 Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State, reports say.
The
terrorists were said to have killed four fishermen during a Friday,
April 4, attack on Alau Village, near Maiduguri, the state capital.
However, unfortunately for them, they fell asleep in a nearby village, Balle, and were themselves killed.
“The
terrorists were more than 15 in number and they sneaked into Alau
around 1am and killed four people. We suspect that it was a planned
attack,” a fisherman, Yusuf Dan Ruwa, said according to Daily Trust.
Another source stated that the vigilantes had gone after the terrorists when they got wind of the attack.
“While
the people of Alau were grieving over the incident, local hunters and
vigilantes from Maiduguri, who got wind of the attack went after the
suspects,” the source, who chose to remain anonymous, said.
“And luckily enough, the vigilantes waylaid the attackers at Balle and killed all of them,” he added.
This
comes as a group of Boko Haram members disguised as preachers launched
an attack on Kwajafa village, also in Borno, leaving 24 people dead.
