26 Robbers Nabbed, 7 Expensive Cars Recovered By Police in Oyo
26 carjackers have been detained and later
paraded by the Oyo State Police Command on suspicion of involvement in
armed robbery, kidnapping and fraudulent acts on Thursday in Ibadan.
According to the information provided by the Commissioner of Police,
Mohammed Indabawa, 26 robbers were arrested and 7 stolen automobiles
were confiscated. It was gathered that all the vehicles were snatched at
gun points in different parts of the state.
During the police operation on April 17, two of the suspects were
arrested at the crime scene. While being interrogated they confessed to
have ties with an armed robbery syndicate operating in Ibadan, Oyo and
Ogbomoso.
They appeared to be experts in stealing expensive and exotic cars and
illegaly selling them to people in Kano and Kaduna. In view of this,
some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad were sent to Kano and
Kaduna to arrest the buyers and recover the stolen vehicles.
Mohammed Indabawa assured that after a thorough investigation, all
the suspects will be charged to court. The vehicles recovered include
one Toyota Matrix marked LND 86 BD; a Toyota Highlander marked APP 781
AZ; a Honda Odyssey marked APP 264 CQ; one Toyota Camry marked KMC 61 PW
and a Honda Civic registered as FS 631 KJA.
