Ebola: Lagos State Confirms Two Fresh Cases
The Nigerian government has confirmed two fresh cases of the Ebola virus has been confirmed in two individuals in Lagos state.
This fresh discovery brings the number of infected to seven in the nation and with two dead.
Also The Federal Government has warned people who are spreading false rumours and deceiving the mass public.
They especially talked about the recent rumour concerning the bathing
with salt water being circulated via SMS and the social media as a cure
for Ebola, saying that anyone caught spreading such rumors would be
prosecuted.
According to Vanguard, The FG is now monitoring 139 people.
The virus was brought to the country by the Liberian man Patrick
Sawyer, who was rushed to the hospital from the Lagos Airport with Ebola
symptoms and died two days following the admission. The second patient
to die in Nigeria from Ebola was a nurse who attended Sawyer.
With the rapid spread of the virus in the country, the Federal Government requested the experimental drug from the US, which is believed to have saved lives of 2 Americans. However President Obama said it was too early to send the drug, which had not yet undergone all the necessary safety trials, to Africa.
