Five Feared Dead In Borno Suicide Explosion
Five people including a plain-cloth police officer, were
killed while several others injured in an explosion in Konduga town,
Borno on Friday.
Premium times reports that the explosion was carried out by a suicide
bomber who had planted Improvise Explosive Device, IED in the pickup
van loaded with firewood he was driving, then detonated the bomb at a
security checkpoint as the curious members of the Civilian Joint Task
Force, JTF, were trying to carry out a normal search on the vehicle
before allowing it to pass.
A top security source who confirmed the news to journalists said: “There
was a blast targeted at the members of the Civilian-JTF manning a
checkpoint in Konduga, about five persons were reportedly killed and
several others injured.
The pickup van had approached the checkpoint at about noon and as
the local security operatives tried to flag down the car, the driver
who was on a suicide mission detonated the explosive device that led to
the death of five persons among who was a plain cloth police officer
from the Criminal Investigation Bureau.”
