Ahead of the upcoming governorship election in Osun state, western Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has mandated all its elected members at state and national levels to converge on Osun.
According to a statement made public on Monday, 4 August, 2014, by APC’s  National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, all the ruling party’s bigwigs are expected to arrive in Osun from Tuesday and remain in the state until Saturday’s election, as a way of showing the party’s unalloyed support for incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The party’s spokesman also added that the directive covers all political appointees in states under the control of the APC, especially Special Advisers and Commissioners.

Mohammed stated that also expected in Osogbo are members of the party’s national exco and the national elders’ caucus.
The APC said it perceives the forthcoming election as a celebration of democracy and a harvest time for the party, whose candidate has worked so hard to implement his mandate and make life more abundant for the people of the state.
The ruling party in the state also called on its members in Osun to be vigilant ahead of the poll, considering the myriad of desperate tactics being perfected by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to reap where it did not sow.

It would be recalled that the APC had accused the PDP of planning to massively rig the forthcoming governorship election in Osun.
The APC had alleged that the PDP has underground intentions to make the Osun Guber election which comes up Saturday, 9th August, work in its favour by crude or rude means.

Only few weeks ago, two persons were reported to have been killed as a result of tension that erupted between supporters of  the APC and PDP in Ilesha area in Osun.
Political analysts in Nigeria are already saying the Osun guber polls would be a keen contest between Governor Aregbesola and Senator Iyiola Omisore of PDP.
