The spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organization, Femi Fani-Kayode has said that he has no intention of leaving the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Fani-Kayode stated further that he would work with other PDP members to ensure that the party returned to power in 2019.
The
former Minister of Aviation said this on Thursday, April 30, 2015,
after the organization presented the election report to President Goodluck Jonathan.
“The
fact of the matter is that I have been in the PDP since 2003. “I went
to the APC for nine months and I have enunciated the reason for that and
I felt that I was absolutely right to do that at that point in time,” Fani-Kayode said.
“I
retraced my steps when it was very clear to me that what was on the
other side was far worse than what was on our side. We made our point,
the necessary concession made within the PDP, there was far more south
western participation, there was much more virile fight against Boko
Haram and that’s why we came back. And I came back and I played a
leading role in this campaign,” he added.
“We
are not going anywhere. I can speak for myself and I can speak for many
others. We are here to stay. We will provide a virile opposition to the
APC. We will do all that is needed to be done to ensure that the
incoming government remains on its toes and we will all do this in a
very peaceful and honourable way,” the former Minister said.
“Nobody
is going anywhere as far as I am concerned. None of us is running away.
There is nothing to be scared of. We fought hard, we did well. I am
very proud of my team. I am proud of my President and our campaign
organisation and we will continue in the trenches until this country is
on the road to success. We will continue to do that,” he concluded.
APC leader, Bola Tinubu
had stated earlier that Fani-Kayode left the party because its leaders
had refused to put an end to the case of corruption brought against him
by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
